Surrey’s new City Centre Library will be an environmentally-friendly landmark that provides access to the broadest range of information, learning opportunities, and diverse cultural experiences...
Libraries are increasingly seen as critical places for people to meet, connect and learn - everyone is welcome at the Library.
We help new immigrants find their footing in their new country, offer a place for new parents to learn about the importance of reading to their children, or provide resources for job seekers. We encourage learning across cultures and generations.
We offer:
Surrey will be a better place to work and live because its library can offer educational, cultural and recreational opportunities, and be an important focal point for the community. Click here for the 2009 Community Literacy Plan for Surrey & White Rock.
Surrey Libraries' core services - staffing, collections, equipment and buildings are covered by government funding. But we're living in a time of rapid change. Donor support helps us continue to provide the programming and services our community needs.
Check out your library just once to see what we have to offer, and you may decide that a weekly visit is in order. After all, using your library is the best way to get your tax money back. Just check out a few books, DVDs, or audio books, attend a program, or bring a child to story-time, and you’ve gotten your money’s worth.
Did you know the average adult library cardholder borrows over $1600 worth of books, DVDs, magazines and other items each year! And new libraries will offer even more resources and services for you to enjoy.
“I have been so impressed with the last two deliveries of books to my home; the bio of Julia Child (I loved it); and so much more…it’s like Christmas!” (client testimonial)

Surrey Libraries offer corporations a variety of ways to support one of the community's most trusted and respected organizations. Aligning your business with SL can help raise a corporate profile, and build a reputation for corporate social responsibility.
The Library is proud to help you honour someone who has made a difference in your life. A generous way of remembering them is to make a donation to Surrey Public Library in their name. We will use these funds to buy books.
For a gift of $100 or more, a distinctive bookplate will be placed in one of the books you helped purchase in their memory. Click here for memorial gifts form.
For each donation Surrey Libraries will send a card acknowledging your gift to the family or person of your choice.
After providing for family and friends, charitable gifts left in your will are an easy and powerful way to support library programs and services you believe in. Bequests in your will are a reflection of your values and allow you to shape the kind of world you want future generations to inherit. You can choose to benefit a specific library program or service or simply designate “the area of greatest need.” Your estate will receive a tax receipt for the value of the gift, which can be used to offset taxes otherwise payable.
Estate planning is an uncomplicated way to make a difference now and for generations to come.
The Library is a member of Leave a Legacy, an initiative of the Canadian
Association of Gift Planners, to promote interest in charitable giving through a will or estate plan.
If you are planning to leave a gift to Surrey Libraries, please let us know. We would like to say thank you. We will work with you to recognize your gift in a way that best suits your wishes, including anonymity if that is your preference.
Supporting our endowment fund creates a steady and dependable source of income for Surrey Libraries allowing for improved collections, or programs and services that could not otherwise be offered. The Library spends only the interest earned on the capital, while the base amount of your donation remains intact – that means your gift never stops giving!
By supporting the Surrey Libraries Legacy Fund through the Surrey Foundation, donors can be confident that their gift will continue to give for many years to come; forever, in fact.
